Pastor John Mark Calhoun Care Pastor

Pastor John Mark Calhoun

Pastor John Mark began serving the Palmetto Street Church of God as a volunteer youth worker in 2002 and became part-time Youth Pastor in 2007. At that time he was employed as the Lieutenant in charge of the Narcotics and Gang Unit for the Florence Police Department. He was a police officer since 1988 and retired in 2013 to become the full time youth pastor at Palmetto Street. Pastor John Mark graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1987 with a Criminal Justice degree and completed his training to become an Ordained Minister in the Church of God in 2013.

He is active in many programs in the Florence school system and often speaks about the dangers of drugs and gangs at school events. Pastor John Mark, has been married to Shannon since 1989 and they have one daughter, Carrie. Pastor John Mark became our Care Pastor in August, 2019 after serving in youth ministry for 11 years.

Pastor Eric Cole Kid’s Pastor

Eric Cole Kid's PastorKid’s Pastor Eric Cole

Pastor Eric Cole has been the Kid’s Pastor at Palmetto Street Church of God since July of 2017. Eric and his wife Teka have served in both bi-vocational and full time rolls since 2006. Before entering into full time ministry, he was a teacher and a math coach in the School District of Oconee County for eight years. Eric graduated from Southern Wesleyan University in 2008 with a double major in Early Childhood and Elementary Education with a minor in Christian Education/Ministries. In 2016, Eric became an Exhorter in the Church of God.  Eric also currently serves on the South Carolina Church of God Children’s Leader Association Board.

Pastor Eric has been married to Teka since 2010. They have two children, a daughter named Ryann and a son named Knox. It is their mission to see Jesus Christ become irresistible to kids throughout the community while building their foundation of faith in safe, fun, and age appropriate environments where they can grow in their relationship with Christ.

Pastor Johnny Miller Student Pastor

Pastor Johnny Miller has been the Student Pastor at Palmetto Street Church of God since August of 2019. He and his wife Taylor have been in bi-vocational and full-time student ministry for over five years. They met while in college and were married on May 31st, 2014. Johnny and Taylor have one son, Calvin.

Johnny grew up in the upstate of South Carolina and graduated from Toccoa Falls College in 2014 with a Bachelors in Business Administration and Minors in both Youth Ministry and Biblical Studies. He has also obtained all three credentials from the Church of God School of Ministry: Exhorter in 2014, Ordained Minister in 2016, and Ordained Bishop in 2018. Johnny has served on several boards and committees that include Winterfest planning, state youth events, and regional youth services. He has also served as a youth camp speaker. 

Johnny and Taylor have dedicated their lives to ministry and specifically to reaching the hearts of students for the Kingdom. They have a desire to see middle and high school students develop a relationship with God that not only lasts through their years as a teenager, but also a faith that is deeply rooted enough to last them their entire lives. Pastor Johnny and Taylor believe that this faith is built in relationship, discipleship, and servanthood to the local church and the Kingdom of God.
