(JANET SIMS, M.S., LPC, NCCC) 9a – 10:30a

Communication problems can usually be traced to a failure in the commitment to minister to your spouse. This workshop will focus and pinpoint the key problems as being selfish motivation. We must deal with this root as well as learn verbal strategies for sharing and listening in non-attacking and non-defensive styles. Sharing and listening skills are important to learn but also teaching couple’s ways to put the needs of their spouse in God’s perfect plan and order. This workshop will be providing the root cause of communication problems as well as tools to correct them. There are also many differences in the needs and love languages in the husband/wife that are connected to communication. Forgiveness: What it is; What it is Not. Understanding this Biblical Command from a Biblical Perspective

(REEVES CANNON, M.A., LPC, BCPCC) 10:45a – 12:00p

Forgiveness is hard, and it is often misunderstood.  Does forgiving mean forgetting?  Are forgiveness and reconciliation the same thing?  It is said, “to forgive someone is to set a prisoner free and to discover that you, the forgiver, are the prisoner.”  Does forgiveness really set us free?  How are un-forgiveness and depression linked?  How do we forgive when we have been hurt so deeply?  All of these questions and more will be the focus of this powerful session as we look at forgiveness through the eyes of Scripture, and then seek to practically apply it to marriage and life.
